The Renault Trafic Van is Renault's answer to the medium sized van market. In a crowded market place which includes the Ford Transit, the Vauxhall Vivaro and the VW Transporter, the Trafic has its work cut out to compete with some very well established and capable vans. Van leasing companies usually offer this van because it stands up well against this tough competition. It is also very easy to drive, comfortable and has an excellent diesel engine which most van leasing customers are looking for.
It is very comfortable and feels refined; the interior and road manners feel a lot like Renault's range of people carriers. The range of diesel engines is very well refined, pull well and give good fuel economy for van leasing. The highest powered unit has an impressive 140 bhp output which is more than adequate for a van of this size. In 2006 the already popular Trafic range received a face lift which further enhanced and already strong van with up to date body styling and an excellent level of equipment.
The Trafic has proved to be a very popular panel van. It is also available in other forms such as a crew cab, a minibus and a flat bed truck. The Trafic is not only popular for van leasing it is also quite popular for users who are not experienced van drivers as it is very easy to drive, the excellent gearbox, brakes, and road handling means that the Trafic handles very well and is no more difficult to drive than a family saloon car.
The cabin of the Trafic is very comfortable and access is good via the foot plate. The driving experience is excellent; the seating position is very comfortable and stands up well to a journey, even on very long trips. The driving position is fully adjustable via the available seat and steering rake adjustments. The interior finish is of high quality and is very well set out, this makes for a pleasant place to spend a working day and a very user friendly environment. The heavy duty and solid materials mean that as well as being highly comfortable and functional the interior is also very hard wearing and should last the life of the van well.
One of the best parts of the Trafic is the excellent dCi diesel engine which is surprisingly quick and pulls heavy loads very well whilst still maintaining great fuel economy; it also makes for a very smooth ride. This engine makes for a great motorway drive and is even capable of overtaking. It is equally at home around town centre where the Trafic's extra large mirrors, sharp steering and excellent gearbox mean it is very easy to drive. Parking is also very easy. If you have driven a family sized car you will have no problem with driving a Trafic.
The only way you will feel any difference from a people carrier is that it is slightly noisier but no more so than any other van. This is really just nit picking at what is an excellent overall package and a very credible choice in a market place which includes some very strong competition. The Traffic is right up there with the very best of them.
